Foundation announces $375,000 in Grants to LISD
The Foundation for Lovejoy Schools grant patrol visited each campus on Friday, May 22 and presented teachers and staff with their grants. Here is a list of the grants awarded for the 2015-16 school year. Congratulations to everyone who received a grant.
Note to the community from FLS President, Barrett Owens:
Dear Lovejoy Families and Friends,
Thank you for an amazing year. Because of YOUR energy and commitment to the Foundation we have reached record levels this year. Going into the year we set goals that would be a stretch but attainable (our hopes). Our Lovejoy community bought in and have put us in a position to grant more money than ever this year!
First, I want to update you on Annual Appeal. Our goal this year was to raise $150,000 and we actually raised $145,000.
Then, Ladies Bingo Night—since it was our first year to host this, we did not know what to expect. The goal was to raise awareness about the Foundation and create excitement about D&D, but as you might guess, with the support of our amazing Lovejoy ladies we raised over $10,000 that night.
Next, was the Men's Tail Gate Tournament—another first time event for us and again we did not know what to expect. Well as you might guess, our amazing Lovejoy men raised over $8,500.00.
Finally, for the always fantastic, Denim and Diamonds Gala & Auction. This year our D&D Chair, Stephanie McCaffity, the Foundation board and the community leaders who rallied and worked to host a great event, marked a record year for Denim and Diamonds fund raising. Denim and Diamonds raised $285,000 after all expenses.
As a result we are announcing $375,000 in grants to LISD. That is an increase over 2014 of $97,000.00! Each and every one of YOU, our Lovejoy Community, who supported the Foundation, are the reason this is possible.
The Foundation Board would like to CONGRATULATE and say THANK YOU for the success. The details of exact grants funded will be announced by a surprise grant patrol in May. As you may or may not know, the Invest in Excellence process is the process thru which administrators, teachers and the Foundation Board work together to make the best possible decisions about how those funds are utilized to enhance education at Lovejoy.
